Sunday
School
Our
faith community includes a group of children ranging in age from
pre-school through high school. We are given opportunities to
provide educational moments for these young people during our
worship services each Sunday as well as at other times. It's important
for us to connect Sunday with Monday through Saturday. God is
interested in our everyday routine as well as our worship experience.
Since
Sunday School attendance cannot be predicted, we are using the
One Room Sunday School curriculum published by Abington Press.
This material is geared to provide lectionary based lessons for
smaller sized Sunday Schools. The teacher's guide provides alternative
projects that can be tailored to specific situations. The resource
guide provides reproduceable weekly lessons rather than being
grade or age oriented. The material is structured according to
broad-based categories (i.e. non-readers, beginning readers, and
skilled readers). As a result, we benefit from providing a variety
of materials and learning experiences. The material includes arts
and crafts, interactive Bible stories/studies and Bible-based/lesson
oriented games.
Confirmation
This
year our Confirmation students are using a brand-new resource
from Augsburg-Fortress: "Here We Stand," a web-based
curriculum that uses the engaging newly-published Lutheran Handbook,
which is already exceptionally popular across the country.
Adult
Education
Our
Adult Bible Study group uses material that parallels that used
by our younger children, studying the lectionary material in greater
depth, asking probing questions, and discovering what the Scriptures
are saying to us as adult Christians, growing continually in our
faith.
