Who We Are

The people of Grace are strong and steadfast in their faith. Grace is a loving, multicultural gathering open to
all that retains strong ties to liturgical and Lutheran worship, while embracing diversity in music and celebration.

We invite anyone who wishes to experience the warmth and caring of our congregation to join us in this adventure. Grace knows no boundaries, no limits. We heartily welcome visitors from all backgrounds, all experiences, to celebrate the Good Word!

The Rev. Eva Reque Steege

Although she had felt the call to serve the church since she was a teenager, she didn't decide to study at the seminary until moving to Washington, DC in 1995. She graduated from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA in June 2004 with a master of divinity degree. On March 20, 2005 she was ordained at Lutheran Church of the Reformation in Washington, DC.

At a joyful morning service on April 3, 2005, Grace Lutheran Church welcomed the Rev. Eva Reque Steege as its new pastor.

The People of Grace unanimously voted to call Pastor Steege on February 27, 2005. She accepted, and becomes the sixth full-time pastor to serve the Asylum Hill congregation. She was formally installed as pastor during a service on July 10, 2005.

Pastor Steege received a bachelor's degree in French from Carleton College, and her M.Div. from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg. She has been a teacher, banker, and public relations director, most recently of the New England Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
